As many as 135 Omani companies have expressed readiness to export their products to Qatar at a bilateral meeting organised by the Qatar Chamber in Muscat on Tuesday.
The Omani products are set to reach Doha in a few days, said QC in a statement on Wednesday, adding that the products would be brought in through the two direct shipping routes launched recently between Hamad Port and the Omani ports of Sohar and Salalah.
The Qatar Chamber meeting focused on developing ways to enhance cooperation between Qatari and Omani businessmen and exporting Omani food items and building materials to Qatar.
Around 140 Qatari businessmen, headed by QC Vice Chairman Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Tawar, attended the meeting.
It discussed means to establish partnerships to promote intra-nation trade and identify Omani products needed by the Qatari market, especially food items and raw materials.
The meeting also reviewed investment opportunities available in Qatar and Oman and explored the possibility of forging alliances between Qatari and Omani businessmen as well as establishing joint ventures in the two countries.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Omani side organised an exhibition of their industries and introduced the Qatari delegation to their products.
Qatar and Oman are exerting great efforts to strengthen their relations in all sectors, Tawar said, adding that there were lot of mutual investments options in the two"brotherly" countries.
"It's the time to complement one another," he added.
Tawar said the bilateral meeting was held under exceptional circumstances amid a blockade imposed by some Gulf countries.
"Today's meeting would establish new horizons of economic and trade cooperation between our friendly countries. We are looking forward to intensifying investments in all sectors in Oman, especially in ports and airports, which would enhance trade and transport," he said.
According to official statistics, the total Qatari investments in Oman up to 2015 reached Omani Riyal 76.5 million (QR 727 million).
Qatari investments in Oman are in sectors of health, electricity, water, construction, services, real estate, industry, transport and mining.
Qatar-Oman's trade volume touched QR 2.8 billion in 2014 and increased to 3 billion in 2015.
