Over the past ten years, Qatar Charity (QC) has received a large number of awards, certificates of honour and points of excellence at the international, regional, GCC and Arab levels in recognition of its professional performance in humanitarian and development work.
The awards also recognise QC's excellence in the programmes and projects it carries out, the services it provides and the initiatives it launches.
A report issued by QC on Sunday reviewed the most important of these awards, including the global first places in the relief work for the people of Syria, Palestine and Somalia at the level of humanitarian non-governmental organisations in 2013, 2014 and 2015. This was awarded by the Financial Tracking Service (FTS) managed by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
QC received eight awards in 2016 at the GCC and Arab levels as it won the first prize for the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) for its pioneering development projects in Saudi Arabia and the project in Sudan on 'Promoting Voluntary Return and Peace Building in Darfur'.
In addition, QC received five awards at the Bahrain Technical Innovation Conference in Bahrain, including four first prizes (Best Website, Best Technology Initiative, Best Social Media Campaign and Best Media Application) and a second prize (Best Electronic Initiative).
In 2016, the 'Safari Charity' Program produced by QC and broadcast on Qatar TV won two gold medals at Al Haytham Arab Media Awards instituted by the United Arab Media Council (UAMC) of Jordan.
QC received the Sanabel Award in Bahrain in 2015 in the category of Community Initiatives for Orphan Care at the GCC level. This is in addition to the 'Best Smart Applications' award in the category of community bodies in Qatar from the Academy of Excellence in the Arab Region, the administrative and regulatory arm of the Smart Government Shield Competition, Kuwait.
QC was also recognised with the Excellence Reward for Caring Orphans in the GCC Countries (KAFEL) by the Regional Network for Social Responsibility in Bahrain in 2014, the Sicily International Prize in Italy in 2013 for its efforts to support the coexistence between Muslims and other communities in Italy, and the Award for Pioneering Projects in social work by the Council of Ministers of Social Affairs in the GCC in Saudi Arabia in 2012.
The leading charitable organisation also won the third prize for Sheikh Fahad Al Ahmad Al Sabah International Award for Charitable Work in Kuwait in 2011 and was honoured by the Ruler of the Emirate of Ajman in the UAE in recognition of its role in social work in 2010.
In 2009, QC received the Best Card Product Award for 2009 for designing a Bank Card for families receiving monthly assistance, besides a certificate of appreciation at the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid & Development Conference & Exhibition (DIHAD) in recognition of its contributions to strengthening international humanitarian and development assistance.
QC also received a number of decorations, including the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (ISESCO) medal in recognition of its efforts to promote Islamic solidarity and the Chevalier de l'Ordre National from Burkina Faso in recognition of its efforts in humanitarian and development activities.
