The current situation will not affect Qatar's preparations for the 2022 World Cup in any way, said Editor-in-Chief of the Qatar Tribune newspaper Dr Hassan Mohammed al Ansari, adding that the country is keen to host a successful tournament.
In an interview on 'Al Haqiqa' TV show broadcasted by Qatar TV on Saturday, Dr Ansari said the show of solidarity to Qatar from people of several Arab and Islamic countries is natural because they know that blockade against Qatar would have more humanitarian impacts on their countries.
He said the Saudi-led countries didn't expect such support from the people in the Arab world for Qatar especially as the move is not in favour of Saudi and its allies.
"The Saudi-led countries thought they can quickly bring Qatar to its knees. The more they take stricter actions against Qatar the more things get worse for them. What else would you expect from the people around the Arab and Islamic world when they see what is happening. They see the situation from a humanitarian perspective rather than being a political move," he said.
He added,"People know that what happened was unreasonable. How can they put a whole nation under siege to accomplish unclear political motive based on false accusations. If they couldn't persuade their own people to support them, how can they persuade millions around the world to do so?"
Dr Ansari also highlighted the deep-rooted relations between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, referring to how Qatar, through Sheikh Jassim bin Thani, supported King Abdulaziz al Saud during the formation stage of the kingdom.
Regarding Turkey's position in the crisis, Dr Ansari said that the Turks didn't forget Qatar's support for them during the failed coup attempt.
Another guest on the show, Ahmed Suleity, a famous Qatari Journalist, said:"Qatar has always had a positive position in dealing with the crisis in Yemen, proffering peaceful solutions to the issue. Now, Qatar is being accused of funding terrorist groups. How can we be funding Houthis when we have martyrs who died on the Saudi Yemeni border defending the Saudi land?"
