THE Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar Financial Center (QFC) to implement a programme 'Health at Worksites' to encourage employees to follow a healthy lifestyle.
The MoU was signed by Director of Health Promotion and Non-communicable Diseases Dr Sheikha al Anoud bint Mohammed al Thani for the Ministry of Public Health and QFC's Chief Executive Officer Yousuf al Jaida.
Dr Sheikha al Anoud al Thani welcomed the QFC's joining the institutions taking part in the implementation of the 'Health at Worksites' programme. Currently, more than 20 institutions from both public and private sectors are participating in the programme.
She underlined that the Ministry of Public Health is aiming at implementing the programme in all government and private agencies in Qatar, stressing that the success of the programme would promote healthy lifestyles among employees, and would provide a safe, secure and a healthy environment.
For his part, QFC Chief Executive Officer Yousuf al Jaida said that QFC seeks through the application of the programme to encourage employees to adopt healthy lifestyles inside and outside the centre such as healthy diet, physical activities and quit smoking, in addition to increasing awareness on how to overcome daily pressures of work.
The 'Health at Worksites' programme comes within the Ministry of Public Health's efforts to promote the health of employees and achieve the objectives of the National Health Strategy 2011-2016, in order to contribute to strengthening the health of members of the community and build a generation that enjoys health and wellness.
