The Advisory (Shura) Council has approved a draft law to determine the qualifications and role of experts, whose services are frequently required by the courts, ministries and government institutions for opinion on litigations and disputes.
A new department called 'Experts Department' will be formed at the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to regulate the work of experts in courts and different government departments.
Experts are now obliged to register at the MoJ to be accredited and licensed before being able to pursue their profession.
According to the draft law, a special committee, which will supervise and organise the work of experts, is empowered to suspend or disqualify them when probing complaints filed against them.
Experts are required to keep confidential all the information they access during their work.
In addition, experts should have no relationship with any of the disputed parties in the cases they are handling.
An expert can't be involved in a case if the company he works for is part of the dispute.
The experts are always obliged to improve their skills in their field of expertise and be up to date with all developments to be fully prepared at all time.
The experts are from the fields of medical science, engineering, finance, banking and real estate, among other sectors.
