QATAR Charity (QA) opened an orphanage in Bangladesh, as part of its humanitarian efforts in the South Asian nation.
The organisation stated that the social welfare centre contains six fully furnished floors, with a capacity of 500 orphans, as well as a school that accommodates 1,000 students.
Qatar's Ambassador HE Ahmed bin Mohamed al Dehaimi said the inauguration of the centre is a"proud addition to the charity work funded by Qatari donors".
The ambassador highlighted the centre's importance, which provides ample accommodation to orphans and a school that builds its knowledge. He added that the embassy is keen on providing all needed facilities to serve work carried out by QC in Bangladesh, saying that Qatar and Bangladesh share strong bilateral relations.
Advisor to Qatar Charity's Chief Executive Officer, Ali Rashid al Mohannadi, said the opening of the centre is a great addition to the humanitarian contributions made by the people of Qatar to Bangladesh. The centre is one of the largest social welfare institutions that provide full sponsorship to the orphans, providing them with basic requirements, Mohannadi added.
