KATARA, as a part of its Ramadan festival, has installed its iftar cannon at the southern area of the Cultural Village.
The firing of the cannon that takes place to mark the end of each day's fast - will be in operation daily at the sunset (Maghrib) prayer. The tradition will add to the ambience that Katara has created through its Ramadan Festival themed 'Hospitality in various Muslim nations', offering visitors an amazing array of activities and entertainment.
Moreover, every Friday during the holy month, Katara will bring back the popular treasure hunt contest, which will be conducted on the Katara's premises and at the ongoing Meerat Ramadan.
As is the custom each year, the Cultural Village has been illuminated with lanterns and light decorations that best suit the spiritual ambiance of the month. Some of the beautifully crafted decorations in multiple hues at the entrances to the Cultural Village display messages greeting visitors to the remarkable venue.
Organisers have taken a conscious effort to ensure that the atmosphere suits families by setting apart Katara's southern area for a diverse array of games for children. Other informative events such as seminars, educational programmes, Islamic and cultural lectures in cooperation with RAF foundation, Qatar Charity and the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, are also on this month's agenda.
The ongoing Meerat Ramadan market which is scheduled to run until June 29 is an essential feature of Katara's Ramadan Festival this year. The event at Katara's southern area has become increasingly popular among visitors as it offers provisions from renowned food and beverage suppliers in the State of Qatar, such as Al-Meera, Baladna Livestock production, Widam Food, as well as 40 other outlets.
