THE Department of Student Development at Qatar University (QU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Best Buddies Qatar (BBQ) for collaboration in the area of social engagement and the inclusion of individuals with special needs in the society.
The MoU was signed by QU Director of Student Development Haya al Attiya and Best Buddies Qatar Executive Director Laalei Abu Alfain in the presence of officials from both institutions.
According to the MoU, both institutions will collaborate on establishing Best Buddies Qatar Club in QU and organising seminars and workshops for the inclusion of individuals with special needs, as well as jointly participate in national events related to individuals with special needs.
Attiya said:"We are pleased to collaborate with Best Buddies Qatar in promoting social engagement and the inclusion of individuals with special needs in the society. This MoU aligns with QU's ongoing efforts to raise community awareness on the importance of inclusion and the organisation's commitment to instilling in students a sense of social and civic responsibility, broadening their knowledge about the world."
Alfain said:"We are keen on Qatar University's pivotal role in the society. Students can influence individuals with special needs due to their role in promoting inclusion. The MoU aligns with the objectives that Best Buddies Qatar strives to fulfil through its programmes and activities. It also serves to strengthen our partnership with QU and we look forward to organising more joint activities."
