A European psychiatrist is facing legal action for running a clinic in her residential apartment for five years without obtaining a licence.
The Court of First Instance has started hearing the case against the doctor, who was charged with opening an unlicensed clinic and practicing medicine without obtaining official permission from the authorities.
The Public Prosecution charged the psychiatrist under law No 2 of 1983 regarding Practice of the Profession of Medicine and Dental Medicine and Surgery after some patient files and documents were found in her apartment during a regular inspection by authorities.
Article 2 of the law says a doctor must issue medical prescriptions on a special form mentioning their names, academic qualifications and specialisation.
