The Cabinet on Wednesday approved a draft law regulating higher education in the country.
Prepared by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the draft law aims to regulate the work of higher education institutions and determine the mechanism for obtaining necessary licences for carrying out their work.
As per the provisions of the draft law, a council named the Higher Education Policy Council will be established at the ministry with the Minister of Education and Higher Education as its head.
The council will have a Vice President and nine other members including representatives of the ministry, heads of state and private higher education institutions.
The council will be responsible for adopting policies and strategies of higher education, proposals for the establishment of governmental institutions and programmes in accordance with the policy of higher education.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet also took necessary measures to pass a draft law on National Address after reviewing the Advisory Council's recommendations.
The draft law defines National Address as a collection of data upon which all government and non-government related transactions will be based on.
The data will be collected from citizens and residents alike. It could also be an entity and not just a person. The person is required to submit the national address to competent administrative unit of the Ministry of Interior as per the manner and period specified by the MoI.
Judicial declarations and official notifications made at the national address will be considered valid for all legal effects.
