THE Italian Embassy celebrated Italy's National Day at the newly opened, magnificent Al Hazm that boasts of spectacular classical Italian architecture.
The newly appointed Ambassador of Italy to Qatar HE Pasquale Salzano invited around 700 dignitaries, including among others Qatari officials and diplomats,to the picturesque architectural edifice made of the best Italian marbles to celebrate the occasion.
Besides, a large number of Italian expatriates attended the celebrations that treated invitees with traditional Italian music, food, coffee and cheese.
In his address, the Italian ambassador said that the venue was selected deliberately to emphasise the deep bonding and cooperation between Qatar and Italy that extends to diverse areas.
"My key focus in the coming days will be to work on further strengthening the ties between the two countries in the fields of construction, technology, defence and tourism," he said, adding,"We are expecting our minister of foreign affairs to visit Qatar shortly which will further boost cooperation between Qatar and Italy."
The ambassador also invited the guest of honour to participate in a ceremonial cake cutting event on this occasion.
The ambassador expressed his gratitude to Qatar for extending help promptly when the central region of his country was reeling under the devastating impact of an earthquake last year."This act of true friendship will always be remembered by us," he said.
Speaking to Qatar Tribune, the CEO of Al Hazm Mohammed al Emadi said,"The design of Al Hazm is inspired by the classical architecture of Italy. This project is the reflection of the visionary leadership of Qatar. It took 10 years to complete this architectural masterpiece. Most of the stone used in its construction was shipped from Italy, which bears testimony to Qatar-Italy friendship."
