Al Gharafa's Deputy Head of Football Sadd al Shammari has vowed that his side will improve after a tough 2016/2017 campaign in an exclusive interview with QSL online, stating;"Our ambition for the coming season is to be a better team."
Shammari noted that the club had some successes over the course of the season, the most important of which was the emergence of youth talent. ~A number of youngsters have been called up to the first team this term, and made the step up as regular starters for the Cheetahs.
"We are satisfied with the team this season regardless of the achieved results, hoping that next season will be better," added the Deputy Head of Football when asked to evaluate the clubs performance this term.
Shammari also stated that the club will have a number new faces for the new season."The team will be prepared ahead of the new season, along with a number of new signings. Al Gharafa will be in completely different shape with a number of new distinguished players who will add to the team to push the side into the top four places."
Regarding new signings, Shammari remained tight lipped on any new recruits for the Cheetahs.
"We have lots of surprises in terms of players next season. I can't talk now about the new signings, but everyone at the club is working hard to ensure that they happen."
Al Gahrafa have also revealved that French coach Jean Fernandez will guide the side next season, a move which was welcomed by Al Shammari;"He (Fernandez) was chosen by everyone at the club . Fernandez is a prominent coach with huge history and experience in addition to his knowledge of the Qatar Stars League."
