The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (MADLSA) has urged private sector institutions and companies to reduce the working hours to six per day during the Holy Month of Ramadan in accordance with the provisions of the labour law.
In a press release on Monday, the ministry confirmed its regulatory role to ensure the commitment of private institutions and companies to implement the working-hours decision throughout the month of Ramadan.
It said the ministry's inspectors will visit worksites and companies to ensure compliance of the companies with the provisions of the law.
The ministry urged company owners not to violate the legal provisions.
Legal actions will be taken against any one found violating the regulations, it said.
The ministry pointed out that it receives complaints from employees and workers at companies which fail to implement the provisions through the ministry's communication channels and hotline.
The ministry affirmed its role and keenness to protect the rights of all employees and workers of companies and urged them not to hesitate to disclose any information indicating violation of their rights and that their complaints will be considered with all attention and confidentiality.
