Pukhtun Professionals in Qatar (PPIQ) arranged a first-of-its-kind technical seminar at Radisson Blu Hotel Doha targeted at new engineers. The meet was aimed at sharing technical and management experiences with the new engineers to overcome potential challenges they may encounter during the course of their careers.
Gul Hameed Khalil, who is working as Geotechnical Specialist at Lusail City project with Dorsch Qatar and is a resident member of the advisory committee for the Institution of Civil Engineers - UK, was invited as a presenter to the event.During the seminar, he described the challenges likely to be faced at construction sites face during enabling works across Qatar, and described the solutions to overcome and avoid cost and time losses. The sequence of construction works were described from the initial stage to final stage of the enabling works package. He emphasised on using modern techniques to avoid damaging the existing buildings and structures during construction. The use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) was briefly described with usage in enabling works and to avoid damage to other structures.
Fresh graduates and engineers were encouraged by the presentation, which provided them with solutions to overcome any difficulty at construction projects.
The newcomers were also given information which would help them foresee problems and better tackle issues in time. The audience appreciated the content of the seminar which included four presentations pertaining to construction. This kind of knowledge -sharing will enhance the development of young engineers and will benefit construction in Qatar ingeneral.
