As many as 500 more shops in 40 locations will come up in Qatar in the second phase of the Al Furjan Markets Project, said the project director Abdul Rahman al Suwaidi.
Several factors went into determining the 40 plots for the second phase of the project, such as the population density of the respective area, its proximity to the nearby market and its access to the prospective Al Furjan market, said the Qatar Development Bank (QDB) official.
On the sidelines of a press conference held to announce the launch of a mobile application for Al Furjan markets, Suwaidi said construction of 13 new markets in the second phase is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
Meanwhile, a number of entrepreneurs hailed the Council of Minister's decision last weekend to approve a draft decree authorising QDB to use plots for construction of residential units, shops, facilities and services.
