QATAR Charity (QC) is implementing 26 income-generating projects in Albania to help orphans, disabled, Islamic preachers (Do'at), and poor families in the country.
The projects include distribution of agricultural tools, shops, cattle, apiaries and sewing workshops.
Through its projects, QC aims to provide stable sources of income to the needy Albanians or create employment for them in order to stop their migration to bigger cities to earn a living.
Erion Veliaj, the Mayor of Tirana, praised QC for carrying out development and humanitarian projects in areas, which are facing difficult conditions in Albania. He pointed out that the Albanian people are accustomed to generosity and philanthropy of the people of Qatar and added that QC's projects have benefited various regions of Albania.
The beneficiaries, in turn, expressed their gratitude to the people of Qatar for helping them when they were facing crises and giving them a sense of security and stability.
For his part, Shawqi Abu Saif, the director of QC's Albania office, said that these projects have rekindled hopes of the needy Albanians by empowering them economically, giving their families stability and raising the level of education in the society.
He also pointed out that Qatari benefactors have played a major role in providing a decent living for a large number of Albanians, especially orphans and widows.
It is worth noting that QC recently launched the second phase of Ehtiajat ('requirements') project to distribute winter requirements to the orphans. QC distributed 1,000 blankets to 500 beneficiaries with an average of two blankets per person, winter clothes to 200 orphans and other students, and school bags and stationery to 150 orphans.
Besides, the Qatari Center for Languages and Computer has provided educational services to over 2,000 students in a year.
