THE Advisory (Shura) Council, on Monday, approved the draft law on 'National Address' and decided to submit its recommendations to the Cabinet.
The regular weekly meeting of the Advisory Council during its 45th ordinary session was held under the chairmanship of the Speaker HE Mohammed bin Mubarak al Khulaifi.
The draft law consists of nine articles to regulate issues related to National Address for citizens' benefit. The Internal and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Shura Council amended Article No 4, which stated that one has to update his address in case he relocates within 30 days and extended the notice period to 60 days.
The other significant articles in the draft law include a definition of 'National Address' and 'competent authority'. It also includes a description of the mandatory information the 'National Address' must have. According to the draft law, judicial declarations or any official notifications are considered effective for taking legal action.
Then, a memo by the Cabinet General Secretariat on a draft law amending some provisions of the Advocacy Law issued by Law No 23 of 2006 was read out. The Council decided to refer it to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee to study it and present a report thereon to the Council.
