El Jaish Sports Club, in cooperation with Qatar Foundation (QF), will organise a new football tournament for 11-year-old players from April 22 to find and develop talented players.
The El Jaish - Qatar Foundation Youth Football Cup will be staged at the Awsaj Recreation Center, with participating teams coming from eight different schools and sports academies in Qatar.
The event forms part of El Jaish's corporate social responsibility strategy and their belief in using sport to connect schools and clubs to bring the community closer.
The tournament will be played on the single round-robin league to determine the winners. The participating teams are: Qatar Foundation Recreation Center, Qatar Academy Doha, Evolution Sports Academy, Premier League Academy, Future Football Academy, Pro Inter Soccer team and Qsport.
To add excitement to the tournament, each team will include players from El Jaish's first division football team, allowing the young players to play and interact with them, besides gaining an inspirational and educational experience.
The other objectives of the tournament are defined to primarily promote the importance of team spirit and fair play, to spread the values of sport and to foster a greater awareness about the importance of leading healthy and active lifestyle, aligning with QF's mission to promote a healthy lifestyle from an early age and foster social engagement.
The tournament will be held under the slogan"Play for Glory" which was created by El Jaish Sports Club to inspire the young players and follow their football dreams.
Khamis Mubarak al Kuwari, Secretary-General of El Jaish Sports Club, said the idea behind the youth tournament is aligned with the club's mission to contribute to community development.
Kuwari added:"El Jaish Sports Club consider corporate social responsibility an integral part of the club's policies and practices. Therefore, we always ensure our plans and activities are thoroughly associated with our social responsibility strategy.
"Our efforts in this field aim at making a difference in people's lives and we will continue to contribute through corporate social responsibility to ensure it is in the best interest of our beloved country, Qatar.
"In addition, we strongly believe our cooperation with Qatar Foundation is a major step in exchanging experiences in the sports field and in spreading awareness among children about the importance of sport and its benefits."
Mohammed al Saoud, Head of the Recreation Services at Qatar Foundation, said:"We are delighted to cooperate with El Jaish Sports Club on this new youth football tournament as this meets with our mission to promote healthy living as an integral part of the day-to-day lives of Qatar's residents and to encourage the mental and physical wellbeing of all community members."
