Kainat Foundation (KF), Doha recently celebrated World Environment Day with the theme 'Tissue is issue'. KF Founder and Chairman Shakil Kakvi said,"The environment is our responsibility. We need to join hands to protect our fragile environment as it is not just for us but we need to preserve it for the next generation."
The preliminary session was attended by a large number of youngsters, officials of Bihar Foundation, World Bihar Organisation, Bazm-e-Urdu Qatar and environmentalists.
The guests expressed concern about the environment and discussed ways to protect it. Sabih Bukhari, Habibunabi, Mahfuz Hussain, Ahmed Ashfaq, Mansoor Azmi, Raqim Azmi, Gauhar Altaf, Belala Khan, Amjad Ali Sarwar and Mohammed Nadeem Mallick expressed their concern about the environment and stressed upon starting an initiative to protect the environment.
Sonu Chullu Bonoe coordinated the event with the assistance of Mustafa Shaikh and Amanat Solanky. Taha Yaseen of Maaza restaurant was instrumental in spreading the message to reduce the use of tissue paper.
The discussion was initiated by Shakil Kakvi on grave issues such as slaughter of elephants for ivory, rhinos for their horns, and pangolins for their scales. From sea turtles to tigers to rosewood, thousands of species of wild animals and plants are being driven closer to extinction.
Kakvi also stressed on using a handkerchief instead of tissue paper and the session resolved that they would start using handkerchief and spread the message to save our blue planet.
Vinita Chullue proposed the vote of thanks and said that we can pursue change by implementing effective policies to protect species and ecosystems.
World Environment Day oath, was taken by each participant to, combat greed and preserve the natural heritage for the future generations.
