The Zakat Fund at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs provided more than QR19.4 million in assistance to needy families in the country in March.
Zakat Fund Director Jassim Mohammed al Kubaisi said the aid was disbursed in accordance with the fund's policy.
He said the fund takes into account requirements for beneficiaries to be eligible for aid as per the conditions stipulated in the Holy Quran.
This comes within the framework of permanent and in-kind assistance to those eligible for assistance in Qatar.
He said the fund distributes aid to the beneficiaries after conducting a social and field study.
The fund assesses the real need of aid seekers during the field study, he added.
