INDIGO, one of the largest Indian carriers, is likely to launch its Delhi-Doha flight shortly.
Speaking to Qatar Tribune, a Doha-based official of the airline said,"The process in this regard is in progress and we will reveal further details about the features of the aircraft, passenger capacity, time schedule and date of launching next month."
It is noteworthy that the Indian media had reported about the launch of Delhi-Doha route by IndiGo in January this year.
The new service to the Indian capital city is expected to benefit a large number of Indian residents in Qatar as well as business tourists from both the countries who wish to explore business opportunities by giving them yet another travel option.
An official of a Doha-based travel and tour operator said,"We are getting a lot of enquiries about the proposed Delhi-Doha flight by Indigo. IndiGo officials had even paid a friendly visit to our sales and marketing office. Meanwhile, we are keeping in touch with IndiGo for the latest updates."
Doha is the sixth overseas destination of IndiGo and third in the Gulf after Dubai and Muscat.
Ticketing agents in Doha also said that IndiGo's strong connectivity from Delhi to other south Indian cities will offer competitive fares for a large number of south Indian expatriates in Qatar.
At present, Qatar Airways, Air India Express and Jet Airways have direct service from Doha to Delhi every day. IndiGo operates to 46 destinations. It has its primary hub at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi. According to sources, IndiGo earns about 10 percent of revenue from foreign operations.
