The Ministry of Interior (MoI) opened its new services centre at The Pearl-Qatar on Wednesday.
The new centre, which is the MoI's 23rd such facility, offers all services of the Traffic Department, Passport and Immigration office as well as services of seven other ministries.
Located behind Waqod petrol station at The Pearl-Qatar, the centre was inaugurated by Director General of the Department of Passport and Expatriates Affairs Brigadier Mohammed al Ateeq.
Brigadier Ateeq said the move comes as part the efforts of the MoI to diversify its services to all parts of the country. He said it would ease access of government services for the public.
"All services of passports will be available in The Pearl Services Centre. All staff in the new centre are trained well to present the best services to clients," he added.
He pointed out that this centre will be working in one shift only for the time being ” from 7 am until 1 pm. The MoI may increase the working hours depending on the number of people availing the services at the centre, he added.
Mohammed al Subei, Director of the Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said document authentication can also be done at the new service centre.
The new centre at The Pearl-Qatar will also provide services of Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Ministry of Economy and Commerce, Ministry Education and Higher Education in addition to the General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa).
