Qatar enjoys high standard of peace and security and witnesses a decrease in crime rates as a result of the efforts of security agencies, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has said.
The Ministry developed the strategy of partnership between people and police with effective interactive programmes with civil establishments to ensure security and stability in the society.
In a statement issued on Saturday to highlights some of its achievements, the ministry said it has made major breakthroughs in the development of various departments and modernisation of its mechanisms to promote security and enhance its services for all members of the society.
According to the statement, Qatar was ranked 14th worldwide and first among Arab countries in the Global Competitiveness 2015 report and came in the 30th position globally and topped the Arab region for the 7th consecutive year from among 162 countries in the Global Security and Peace Index.
The State was named as the safest country in the world and topped globally as the least major crime committed country in a way that threatens the security as per the statistics recorded until the end of 2015, the statement added.
The ministry said 56,075 transactions were completed through self-service machines during the year 2015, while it recorded fall in overall rate of committing major crimes below the world average rate of 95.8 percent.
The report added that its takes patrols of the Ministry of Interior an average of seven minutes to reach a complaint or an accident scene while the severity of traffic accidents in the last 10 years has fallen to 32.8 percent.
The rates of major traffic accidents that resulted in deaths and injuries have decreased per 10,000 inhabitants in the last 10 years by 76.9 percent and the mortality rate of traffic accidents per 10,000 vehicles has declined within the same period by 43.2 percent, the ministry said.
It added that 97.9 percent of most of the traffic accidents recorded in 2015 was minor incidents without injuries, while only 2.2 percent were major accidents that caused injuries.
The ministry said it has facilitated services to all citizens and residents through the security and service departments and service centres located in various parts of the country.
The public can complete more than 120 services of the ministry via Metrash2 application through smart phones while the activation of electronic services laid the foundation for making the ministry a paperless establishment, the ministry said.
