HER Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad al Thani, Vice-Chairperson and CEO of the Qatar Foundation (QF), on Sunday awarded scholarships to three students who attended UCL Qatar in acknowledgement of their academic achievements to date.
The UCL Qatar Academic Excellence Scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement prior to commencing their studies at the QF partner university.
Students are selected by the university's Scholarship Panel, led by UCL Qatar Director Dr Sam Evans, from those accepted onto UCL Qatar Master's programmes. The awards aim to encourage the brightest academic minds, who demonstrate a strong potential for research and academic excellence, to achieve the highest standards in their chosen disciplines of study.
The students being honoured this year include: Eman al Shamari (MA Library and Information Studies), Elena Terranova (MA Museum and Gallery Practice) and Suzanne Mirgani (MA Museum and Gallery Practice).

As well as handing out the Scholarship Awards, HE Sheikha Hind was given a guided tour of the UCL Qatar facility, within the Georgetown University building, by the director accompanied by a number of teaching staff, before attending a buffet lunch with staff and students.
Commenting on the scholarship award, Eman al Shamari, a student, said:"It's a huge honour to receive this scholarship and I am grateful to UCL Qatar and to Qatar Foundation for this opportunity to study at such a prestigious institution. I am looking forward to getting involved in my studies and to contributing to the preservation of Qatar's cultural heritage in the future."
UCL Qatar, a partner university of QF, will hold its open evening, 'Discover UCL Qatar', on March 27, from 6:30pmto 9pm, for prospective students, existing applicants and members of the community interested in learning more about Master's degrees in Library and Information Studies and Museum and Gallery Practice. The courses are designed for both international and Qatar-based students looking for careers in cultural heritage, library and knowledge management sectors.
