The Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Ministry of Culture and Sports represented by Nomas Center signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Sunday to promote and strengthen Qatari identity among students.
Director of Independent Schools Office Khalifa Saad al Derham signed the MoU on behalf of the Ministry of Education, while Director of Activities and Youth Events Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed al Hajri signed on behalf of the Ministry of Culture.
The agreement entails holding a number of cultural events for boys and girls.
Derham said the agreement aims to strengthen the sense of Qatari identity and culture among students to help them maintain a balance between modernity and their own heritage.
Derham said the initiative would help the country preserve its values and traditions.
On his part, Hajri said the agreement would require the Nomas Center to hold a number of workshops to raise awareness about the centre's activities among students.
It will also hold cultural workshops for boys and girls. According to him, the targeted age groups are from the fifth grade up to the ninth grade.
