French explorer Gauthier Toulemonde had started his individual journey through Oman's deserts starting from Wilayat Adam, Al Dakhiliya governorate, where he will cross-desert The Empty Quarter and Al Sharqiya Sands. Toulemonde's journey will be covered through his social media accounts; he will also send post cards and letters through the mail to his friends around the world to share his experience in Oman.
Gauthier was born in 1959, he studied business and economics, has an extended experience in banking, became the CEO of a press company called Timbropresse, and is currently a member of the Society of French explorers. For a long time, Gauthier has been interested in documenting his travels in the form of digital films, using the new communication methods.
Among the countries that he has visited were Indonesia, Singapore, China, Namibia, and others. This time, Gauthier had chosen Oman to be his next adventurous experience."I was in Oman two years ago with my family, and we have visited Muscat, Bidiya, and Al Sharqiya Sands, where the idea of desert-crossing had sparkled in my mind, and here I am today," Gauthier said.
"My aim is to show the connection between human beings and nature, how we can live isolated in the wild, facing different kinds of challenges and learn to live peacefully with nature while communicating with the world through social media channels at the same time using the solar or green power," he added.
Gauthier's journey can be checked out through the website www.webrobinson.fr.
