King's College Doha was officially opened on Sunday in the presence of its board members, the British Ambassador to Qatar and officials from main campus King's College UK.
Chairman of King's College Doha Sheikh Mansoor bin Jassim Thani al Thani stressed on the contribution of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in supporting the opening of this institution and ensuring its success in accordance to high standards, and its inclusion in the Ministry's Outstanding Schools Program.
Sheikh Mansoor pointed out that the opening of the school represents a milestone in terms of the investment in education, one of the key pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to produce a generation of talented citizens with a modern vision anchored in Qatari tradition.

"King's College Doha will not be an exact replication of King's College UK, but rather an innovative institution adapted to Qatar while benefiting from its parent school's 137 years of experience. The school also reflects a long history of collaboration between Qatar and the UK," he added.
The British Ambassador to Qatar HE Ajay Sharma praised the initiative as means of fostering ties between the two countries. The ambassador said:"I hope the future generations will see Britain as a friend and ally the same way that Sheikh Mansoor's generation does."
Furthermore, the ambassador was impressed by the facilities and the school building, and expressed his desire to see more British education in Qatar.
King's College aims to provide its students with a high-quality education that extends beyond examinations to life-long skills that prepare students to pursue a path that matches their talents and passion, according to King's College Doha Headmaster Nicholas Gunn.
King's College UK Headmaster Justin Chippendale also stressed the importance of creating a culture of confidence where students can freely express and share their views in a conducive environment.
