The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) on Tuesday launched a service to register patents electronically through its website.
In a statement, the MEC said the entire patent registration process will be done online.
The new service will speed up the process and save time for the applicants.
The ministry said patents are crucial for inventors and investors who seek to commercialise their products.
It also protects the inventors' rights to their products from possible infringements.
Registering the patent also recognises the contribution an individual or an organisation has made in a field.
The ministry has warned that failing to register a patent could enable others to claim the right to a product and its commercialisation.
