THE Emir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani patronised the fourth edition of Information and communication technology exhibition QITCOM 2017, which opened at Qatar National Convention Centre on Monday.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani and Minister of Transport and Communications HE Jassim bin Saif al Sulaiti also visited the exhibition along with high level officials from different ministries.
The three-day exhibition titled 'Qatar Towards a Smart Future' organised by the Ministry of Transport and Communications highlights Qatar's advancements in the field of digital technology and steps towards achieving knowledge-based economy.
The event organised and supported by more than 50 leading digital establishments with a participation of over 90 exhibitors showcases latest technology in information and communication.
The event offers an opportunity to global IT players like Microsoft to introduce their products and services while visitors get a chance to learn about global products and services as well as the people-friendly electronic services launched by different ministries in Qatar.
It is worth mentioning that various government departments have launched 1,600 digital services for people's benefit.
Speaking to Qatar Tribune, a consultant working with Ericsson, said:"An exhibition with an international profile is always an opportunity for manufacturers and entrepreneurs to not do just business, but also learn about the competitive market and the new products."
Ericsson is exhibiting a new product in transportation technology.
An entrepreneur in IT sector said that exhibitions of this kind help in training potential entrepreneurs."It's an opportunity for them to know more about the advancement in technology from the experts," he said.
The prominent companies participating in the exhibition include Qatar Rail, Ministry of Interior, Hamad International Airport, Qatar National Bank, Vodafone, Ooredoo, Mowasalat, Huawei and Qatar Port Management.
The exhibition,which will conclude on Tuesday, is expected to receive more than 10,000 people.
