Vice-President of Ghana Dr Mahamudu Bawumia met with Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al Kuwari, adviser at the Emiri Diwan and Qatar's candidate for the post of director-general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural (UNESCO) in Accra on Saturday. Talks during the meeting dealt with bilateral relations between the two countries.
The vice-president expressed his country's keenness to develop relations with Qatar, especially in the areas of employment and investment and enhance cooperation in matters of international organisations.
He stressed that the exchange of visits between officials of both countries is the best way to explore prospects of cooperation.
Kuwari briefed the Ghanaian official about his vision to achieve a new breakthrough for the organisation, stressing UNESCO's need for international solidarity to enable it to perform its noble mission in education, culture and science.
He emphasised Africa's role in achieving his vision for UNESCO.
The Ghanaian vice-president welcomed the Qatari candidate's vision, wishing him success and looking forward to cooperating with him in the future for the advancement of the organisation.
