THE American School of Doha (ASD) celebrated the completion of its Campus Improvement Project (CIP) initiated in 2013 during a ceremony witnessed by the Ambassador of the United States to Qatar HE Dana Shell Smith and ASD's Director Dr Thomas Hawkins.
Touring the new facilities, Ambassador Smith praised the school's efforts in providing high-quality technologies and learning experience to its young students.
The latest additions to the elementary school included the construction of a larger elementary library to address overcrowding and ease the growth of student attendance. The library accommodates a 3D printing and robotics facility still in construction and expected to deliver a modern experience of robot programming and real-life modeling.
In addition, five learning support rooms serving the expanded student services programme were constructed and the staff offices were renovated. In order to further enhance the athletic and recreational activities offered to the students, the project also included the addition of a gym, an outdoor covered play area and an air-conditioned indoor courtyard.
Apart from the extensive enhancements targeting the elementary school, new amenities including three new science labs were added to the middle and high school as well as part of the CIP in order to facilitate the rapid increase in the number of students.
The project not only focuses on educational services and accommodation but also features several enhancements of the fire safety and security systems. For instance, new CCTV cameras linked to a monitoring control panel were installed all over the campus and three redesigned guard houses were constructed.
