Ambassador of Niger to Qatar HE Hassan Embarak Boubacar expressed his country's aspiration for a greater role of Qatari investors in building partnerships with private institutions in Niger to support sustainable projects~ throughout the country.~
"Our sustainable development strategy goes beyond the mere construction of mosques especially that some mosques are built inexpensively and can not survive long.~ Niger is full of natural resources and minerals and are waiting for investment," Boubacar said.
He told Qatar Tribune that Niger welcomes Qatari investments ~ especially in mineral extraction, agriculture and tourism.
"Niger has large stocks of uranium, iron, phosphate, coal, gold and limestone. In 2013 Niger managed to increase uranium production from 4,ooo tonnes to 10,000 tonness per year. It also succeeded in breaking the monopoly of extraction, and opened the way for multi-companies to invest in the field of extraction," he said.
Boubacar added that Niger is on the verge of developing massive investments, thanks to the government, which has achieved security and stability.
The current government has developed a plan for paving thousands of kilometres of roads, and we are working on building railway to link Algeria to Nigeria, he said.
"In addition to the capital Niamey airport, we have eight regions; and every province has an airport. Our nation is one of the best African countries in the field of air connectivity between regions, Boubacar added.
He said that the new government has introduced one of the best investment law including the right of ownership for foreign investors in many sectors, easy money flow and procedures to establish companies.
"We have arable areas, around 5 million acres, and the great Niger River feeds most of the territory, as well as Niger has the largest water reserves in the Sahara desert. We have about 83 million cows and sheep which is very enormous wealth," he added.~"In terms of tourism, Niger has stunning forests, sand dunes, and mountains. We welcome all Qataris~ for visit and investment, Boubacar said.
