The Doha Document for Peace belongs to the people of Darfur, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State Ahmed bin Abdullah al Mahmoud.
Mahmoud made the remarks at the press conference after the signing of a peace agreement between the Sudanese government and Sudan Liberation Army/Movement (SLA/M) the Second Revolution.
In response to a question on the groups that have not signed the agreement, Mahmoud called on all movements who are yet to sign the document to do so in response to the demands of the people and UN Security Resolutions.
The deputy prime minister added that Qatar as a mediator welcomes all groups to join the peace process.
Mahmoud noted that some of the requests regarding renegotiating the document will not be welcomed by the people of Darfur as it will destroy all the good work that has been done in recent years.
The deputy prime minister, however, left the door open for enhancing the document through the signing of protocols.
He stressed that Qatar, as a mediator, is keen on peace but will not impose it on any side, rather hopes to find a solution that satisfies all parties involved.
He stressed that Qatar remains committed to finding a solution to all the problems.
