The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs on Sunday announced the opening of eight new mosques in different parts of Doha soon.
The new mosques can accommodate more than 6,000 men and women.
The ministry said in a statement that the new mosques are located at Leabaib, Al Hetmi Old, Al Nasr, Msheireb, Al Sakhama, New Al Ghanim and Umm Ghuwailina. All the new mosques will have chapels for women and houses for imams.
The Mosques Department of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs takes into account the requirements of green buildings and sustainable buildings, and preservation of heritage aesthetics in the mosque designs, reflecting Qatari and Islamic heritage.
