Minister of Education and Higher Education and President of Qatar National Commission for Education HE Dr Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed al Hammadi met Stanley Mutumba Simataa, president of the 38th General Conference of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in Doha on Wednesday.
During the meeting, they discussed the agenda of the UNESCO, including the elections for the director-general's post and the importance of members' commitment to support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
They also discussed the support Qatar provides to the organisation to develop education, culture and sciences to the members, and also exchanged views on educational topics in the organisation's agenda concerning education and the Education for All 2030 movement.
Simataa expressed his thanks to Qatar and the Minister of Education for the continuous support to the organisation, and the UNESCO office in Qatar, which has had a profound impact in achieving the organisation's goals.
HE Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al Kuwari, adviser at the Emiri Diwan, is Qatar's candidate for the director-general's post at the UNESCO. (QNA)
