Minister of Economy and Commerce HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al Thani on Wednesday met with a host of ministers from different countries and senior executives on the sidelines the World Economic Forum that began in Davos on Tuesday.
Saudi Minister of Commerce and Investment Majid al Qasabi, Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Lilianne Ploumen, and several senior executives of major firms had discussions with Sheikh Ahmed.
The meetings reviewed bilateral relations in the economic, commercial and investment fields and the means to develop them, in addition to exchanging views on issues on the forum agenda.
The historic ties between Qatar and Saudi Arabia are known to be strong. Trade volume between the two countries amounted to QR7.8 billion in 2015, establishing Saudi Arabia as the 13th largest trade partner.
Qatar and Saudi Arabia are linked through a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding, notably the deal to extend cooperation in the industrial field between the governments of Qatar and Saudi Arabia as well as an air transport agreement and cooperation agreement on transport, roads and infrastructure.
The trade volume between Qatar and Netherlands amounted to QR3.6 billion in 2015.
Qatar and Netherlands have several agreements and memoranda of understanding in place, including economic, commercial and technical ties.
Minister of Finance HE Ali Shareef al Emadi is leading Qatar's delegation to the annual World Economic Forum (WEF). The first day of the 47th edition of the annual forum saw the participation of more than 3,000 political and economic leaders, and officials, discussing a varying range of global and economic issues.
