The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) has announced the opening of registration for the second edition of 'Katara Murals with the Brushes of Artists' project, urging all interested residents to register for the event before January 22.
Speaking about the initiative, Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti said that the 'Katara Murals with the Brushes of Artists' project comes in line with Katara's efforts to enrich the local art scene while strengthening the relations between artists who come from different walks of life.
The project also aims to develop the artists' expertise as well as provide a platform for the artists to interact with the public through a meaningful masterpiece.
He said,"Through this project, we emphasise that art is a common language between artists, who come from various parts of the world. Moreover, we don't confine this project or restrict creativity to specific art methods. Instead, we set the artists free to paint according to individual inspiration and interpretation."
Katara has allocated a plain white space, measuring 100 metres, for innovative artists - citizens and expatriates - to decorate Katara's walls, during the months of January and February. Visitors to the event are guaranteed the unique experience of observing a masterpiece evolving as the artists will be creating the murals in the presence of the public.
The organising committee has announced that 50 artists from the Fine Art associations in Katara will be selected for the second phase, with priority given to new participants who didn't take part in the first edition of Katara Murals with the Brushes of Artists.
Applicants should be at least 20 years old.
