The Cultural Village Foundation Katara will host an art exhibition entitled 'The Great Awakening', which comprises works by the Ecuadorian artist Maria Veronica, from January 15 to 30.
The exhibit, comprising 35 pieces of art, will highlight Katara's endeavour to promote fine art among the public by showcasing specialities of artists from across the region and beyond.
Speaking at a press conference held to announce the launch of the exhibition, General Manager of Katara Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti said,"I have to acknowledge the strong bilateral cooperation between the Cultural Village Foundation Katara and the Ecuadorian Embassy in Doha represented by HE Kabalan Abisaab. We have brought through this collaboration many festivals, events and exhibitions that witnessed the most beautiful representation of human and cultural communication."
Maria Veronica has adopted a highly technical style in her pieces that range across paintings, drawings, photography and video-art.
Commenting on the exhibition, Veronica said,"Arabian culture is a fascinating world of mysticism and mystery. Its fantastic stories and sceneries enrich my spirit and guide my creativity towards the realisation of an art in harmony with the region. The new cities are a contemporary phenomenon - great cultural puzzle - that today, more than ever, offers platforms for evolution, as well as the interactions of the cultures and talents inhabiting them."
