The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has intensified inspection campaigns at commercial complexes and shopping malls, following the launch of the Shop Qatar festival.
The MEC inspectors detected three violations, including the absence of price tags, and non-display of the discount licence prominently at the outlet, during an inspection at Mall of Qatar on Monday. Each outlet was fined QR5,000 for each violation.
The campaign aims to exercise tighter control on the local market and in particular on the various retailers in the country to ensure they are comply with the provisons of Law no 8 for 2008 on consumer protection, and the terms and conditions of the licence granted for promotions and discounts.
The ministry has called on shop owners to put the initiative mark"Shop with Confidence" in all promotions and sales advertisements.
