THE Public Works Authority 'Ashghal' has announced that it will implement a temporary diversion on Haroun Road in North Al Wukair, which connects Al Wukair Road to the Industrial Area Road and F-Ring Road, on Tuesday (January 10), for a period of three months.
The 1.9 km long Haroun Road, has two lanes in each direction. During its closure, traffic will be diverted to adjacent roads which are Al Tabaah and Zubarat Al Eraiq streets with the same number of lanes. Moreover, four roundabouts will be provided to ease the traffic flow.
The construction will be conducted in phases and Haroun Road between Zubarat Al Eraiq and Sheikh Mubarak Bin AbdulRahman Al-Thani will be reopened on February 16, 2017, and traffic will be diverted to the newly finished road.
This diversion is required to facilitate the removal of the existing road in order to construct a newly developed one, as part of the Roads and Infrastructure for Government Residential Division project in North Al Wukair.
The project will also include constructing new signal-controlled intersections, better street lighting facilities and installing better infrastructure services which will enable more land owners to build and occupy their houses, in addition to providing sidewalks and landscaping.
The contractor will install road signs to advice motorists of the diversion. The authority requests all road users to abide by the speed limits, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
