More than QR2 million was raised to support Syrians in Aleppo at a charity auction conducted by AlBahie Auction House in Katara on Monday.
A large number of Qatari nationals took part in the auction where 42 items such as cars, motorcycles, jewellery and fancy number plates were up for grabs.
The auction was in line with the series of efforts undertaken by the Organizing Committee of the National Day for raising funds to be donated to the people of Aleppo.
Car connoisseur Khaled bin Faisal bin Qassim al Thani, who participated in the auction, said,"I am happy to take part in this charity auction. I have bought two cars at the auction. I really do not care about the amount that I have spent during the auction since I am sure it is going for a good cause."
Ashraf Abu Issa, Chairman & CEO of Abu Issa Holding and the promoters of AlBahie Auction House, said,"We are so overwhelmed to see the huge response to this charity auction that we have had to make arrangement for extra chairs for bidders outside the auction hall. AlBahie Auction House is happy to partner with the organisers to show solidarity with Syrians."
