Al Kharaitiyat Interchange on the North Road will be closed to traffic for two months from Sunday, December 25, 2016, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced.
During the closeure, there will be a temporary diversion, designed in consultation with the General Directorate of Traffic, involving the entire intersection entrances and exits besides Wadi Al Salamya Street in the west and part of Al Ebb Street in the east.
The detour will facilitate the revamp of Al Kharaitiyat Interchange as part of North Road Corridor Enhancement project.
During the traffic diversion, motorists can access the surrounding neighbourhoods and Al Shamal Road and vice versa via the local approaches as well as other three major nearby junctions, Izghawa Interchange, Al Kheesa Interchange and Umm Slal Mohammed Interchange without any change to traffic flow on the main North Road.
