The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) will divert a small section of the eastbound lanes on Al Luqta Street opposite Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) to an adjacent 540-metre road from Friday.
The minor diversion, designed in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, will continue until December 2017.
During the diversion, vehicles travelling from Dukhan to Doha on Al Luqta Street will be rerouted from the existing carriageway to a parallel route for before they can rejoin the existing road.
Ashghal said there will be no change to the number of road lanes and the speed limit, which will remain at 50 kmph.
The road change is the final stage of a three-phrase diversion that will be implemented on the Dukhan Highway East project in the area. The diversions are required to enable the construction of a pedestrian tunnel, future roads and the implementation of new utilities system in the area.
The authority requested all road users to abide by the speed limit, and follow newly implemented traffic road signs to ensure their safety.
