THE Public Works Authority (Ashghal) will divert a small section of westbound lanes on Al Luqta Street opposite Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) to an adjacent 540 metre road on Friday (December 16).
The minor road change, which has been designed in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, will be in place until December 2017.
During the duration of the traffic change, road users travelling from Doha to Dukhan on Al Luqta Street will be shifted from the existing carriageway onto an almost parallel route for a short distance of 540 metres before rejoining the existing road, as shown on the attached map.
Ashghal advises that there will be no change to the number of road lanes and the speed limit will remain at 50 kph.
The minor diversion is the second stage of a three-phase diversion that will be implemented on the Dukhan Highway East project. The diversions are required to enable the construction of a pedestrian tunnel, future roads and the implementation of new utilities systems. Ashghal will provide a further update to road users regarding the final phase of the road changes in the area.
The Public Works Authority has urged road users to abide by the speed limit, and follow newly implemented traffic road signs to ensure their safety.
