THE Qatar National Day (QND) Celebrations Organising Committee on Wednesday unveiled an array of programmes to be held as part of the celebrations, starting from Thursday.
Wide-ranging cultural activities including reciting of 'Al Maqtar', an old collection of poetry on desert life, will chracterise Darb Al Saai, which will celebrate Qatar National Day, which falls on December 18, until December 20.
It will also feature Al Fareej, an oratory and debate contest; and Al Bidaa, where Qatar's marine tradition will come to life with activities like sailing, oyster opening for pearl, traditional coffee shop, and traditional games.
Besides, Al Shaqab pavilion supervised by specialists trainers from the stable, will teach visitors horse-riding skills, in addition to displaying the beauty of the Qatari horses and providing tips on how to look after them.
The pavilion for Al Nasa (shooting), a favourite sport of Qataris, will be open to public and teach them the basics of shooting with rifles.
Furthermore, for the first time, it will include 'Al Liwan' event including recreational programmes for women and children.
Souq Waqif will showcase models of old trading activities in textiles, ceramics and engravings
Due to the large number of events in Darb Al Saai, the organising committee has set up Al Meez, consisting of 16 restaurants and 26 stalls distributed across the venue.
The Al Maseer Parade will include participation of Arabian horses and camels, vintage cars, traffic vehicle patrols, motorcycles and model of Metro rail.
In addition, it will also feature flag hoisting, as well as events by Qatar Foundation, Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), Traffic Department, Civil Defense and Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME).
