OVER 200 students of Community College of Qatar (CCQ) were presented associate degrees by CCQ President Dr Ibrahim S al Naimi at a graduation ceremony held at Qatar National Convention Centre on Tuesday.
The ceremony was graced by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani. Besides, a host of dignitaries, including ministers, faculty members and parents of graduating students, were present.
This year's graduating class consisted of 114 females and 96 males with Fatima Azzahra Jamal Harim from the course of Associate of Arts bagging the Distinguished Graduate award, which was presented to her by the prime minister.
"The progress of any nation is measured by the educational opportunities offered to the youth. Therefore, CCQ is keen on serving Qatar's labour market by offering advanced specialised courses to Qatari students," said Dr Naimi said during his address.
Associate Dean of Student Services Dr Muneer Abbad remarked,"The highlight of this year's ceremony is the graduation of the first batch of students in Associate of Arts in Public Administration, which has become very popular among students."
He added,"We hope to see some of the graduating students opting for the two-year Bachelor's Degree at the college."
"I am glad to see my students' efforts coming to fruition today," said Nick Manochehri, head of Student Research in the faculty of Information and Technology.
It is worth mentioning that a new programme in Information and Technology has recently been added to the CCQ curriculum.
