The healthcare sector in the country received a shot in the arm with the handover of the Hospital and Integrated Health Center project in the Industrial Area to the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) by the Private Engineering Office (PEO).
The HMC will soon begin equipping the health facility as per the plan. Once operational, the hospital will help ease the pressure on existing hospitals in Doha.
Spread over an area of 132,000 square metres, the hospital complex consists of basement, ground, first floor and second floor. The hospital with 118 beds stands over an area of 49,000 square metres. The number of beds can be increased to 210 after a building adjacent to the hospital is ready, according to an official source at the PEO.
The project also includes a health centre spread over 7,200 square metres and a facility offering Medical Commission services to ease the pressure on health centres in neighbouring areas. The hospital complex has a mosque that can accommodate 400 worshipers and a cafeteria with a total area of nearly 1,300 square metres.
The parking lot at the facility can accommodate about 710 vehicles, including 200 covered parking slots and space for 26 vehicles for people with special needs.

Green spaces have also been created at the complex. The hospital provides specialised medical services as per the health plan set by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).
The hospital is expected to receive 30,000 visitors monthly. There are three main entrances in addition to one allocated for ambulances.
There is also a central kitchen, laundry and morgue. The emergency building in the hospital spreads over area of 6,000 square meters with a capacity of 30 beds.
The construction of the hospital took three years.
The hospital is part of three hospitals project carried out by the PEO.
While the construction works of the hospital in Ras Laffan will be completed in the first quarter of 2017, the hospital in Mesaieed is scheduled to be completed during the second quarter of 2017.
