Felicity Jones, who is starring as resistance fighter Jyn Erso in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, says she wanted her character to be"as human as possible".
"I wanted Jyn to be as human as possible. She's strong when she needs to be, she's incredibly determined and she has to be tough when she doesn't feel it. But at the same time there is enormous vulnerability," Jones said.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story tells the story of a group of unlikely heroes, who in a time of conflict, band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction.
This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves, in the film.
Directed by Gareth Edwards, the film will be the first stand-alone Star Wars anthology film.
Set in the Star Wars universe some time after the events of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and shortly before the events of the original Star Wars, the film will feature Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Jiang Wen, and Forest Whitaker.
