After opening vehicle inspection centres (Fahes) in Wadi Al-Banat, Al-Mamoora and Al Wakra, Qatar Fuel (Woqod) will open seven new inspection centres at Shehaniyah, Al Khor, Al- Wukair, Al-Mazrooah, Madinat Shamal, Al Wajba and Mesaimeer South next year.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the company said work is currently under way at these centres.
The company, which opened Sidra centres in Katara, Woqod Tower and Educational City, said construction work for another Sidra centre in Aamal Tower has been completed
The new centre, which is awaiting issuance of business licence, is expected to start operation by the end of this year or early next year.
Woqod said expansion work has also been completed at Al Hilal, Thaien, Bu Faseela and Industrial Area petrol stations.
Work is under way to expand six more stations in Manaseer, West Bay, Wadi Al-Banat, Syliyah, Mesaimeer East and Al Gharafa. Woqod will open 14 more fuel stations by the end of this year.
Three stations at Al-Ghanem Old, Al-Thameed and Hamad International Airport (HIA) are ready to start operation.
While Al-Ghanem and Al-Thameed will be inaugurated this month, HIA station will open very soon. There are three stations nearing completion in Mushaireb on Al-Rayyan Road, Al-Mashaf North Al Wukair and Al-Rayyan Qadeem. These three stations are expected to start operation in November.
In addition to these six stations, eight more stations in Al-Muntaza, North Al-Wakra, Madinat Shamal, Abu Nakhla (Salwa Road), Wadi Abu Saleel, Al-Wukair, Al-Khor and Lusail are nearing completion. Operations of these stations are expected to start by the end of this year.
Work is also going on four other projects in Um Ghwalina, Salatah Jadeed, Al-Thumama and Jabal Teilib in Lusail City. These stations are expected to be complete next year. Providing information about projects in the tendering and award stage, the company said that there are currently four stations in Salatah Qadeema, Khaleej West, Al-Kurana and Umm Qarn. These projects are expected to be complete next year.
There are three stations in design and bidding stage in Madinat Mawatir, Education City and Ras Laffan. These projects are also expected to be complete next year.
Woqod is also coordinating with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) for allocation of land in suitable locations to set up 34 more petrol stations. The focus will be on the South Motorway and Doha Express road, the company said.
