Spoken Arabic Guide, the latest book by Doha-based Indian author Amanulla Vadakkangara, was released recently. Dr MP Hassan Kunhi, a long-time Doha resident and prominent Indian entrepreneur, released the book by handing over a copy to Anti-Smoking Society Global Chairman Muhammedunni Olakara.
Dr Kunhi highlighted the importance of taking the initiative to know the language and culture of the country we work in and urged the audience to utilise all opportunities for its over-all development.
"Getting familiar with the Arabic language will help expatriates sharpen their communication skills and improve efficiency at their workplace. It will also strengthen socio-cultural relations," he said.
After receiving the first copy of the book, Olakara said that it was important for learning the language of a country for a number of reasons. He said"Arabic language, apart from its rich cultural and traditional values, is the most important language for communication in Qatar and the region. Knowing the language will greatly improve communication of expatriates with the government departments and the citizens. Moreover it will enable people to understand the cultural and local traditions of the country.
Friends Cultural Centre Executive Director Habeeburahman Kizhissery also spoke.
This is the twelfth book published by Amanulla about learning Arabic. His major books on Arabic learning are : Spoken Arabic Made Easy, Spoken Arabic for all, Spoken Arabic Tutor, Spoken Arabic Master, A Formula to Speak Arabic and Spoken Arabic Gurunathan.
His Arabic lessons on UAE-based Radio channel, Voice of Kerala is followed by thousands of listeners worldwide.
